The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 proposes to overhaul India’s education system in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 — Quality Education. NEP-2020 (Para 15.11) recognises that teacher professional development requires a multidisciplinary perspective, professional dispositions, ethical values, and the continuous enhancement of teaching-learning practices — built on structured mentoring by experienced and competent mentors.
The National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) was created to deliver on that vision: a single, structured platform pairing outstanding educators with teachers, school heads, and learners across every state and union territory of India. NCTE has been mandated to develop and design the modalities, and the NMM Bluebook — launched by the Ministry of Education — guides every Mentor-Mentee interaction on the platform.
